1/ IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF BALZAC OR HUGO

Journey to Paris. Unaccompanied visit of Victor Hugo’s House in the Place des Vosges and the apartment he occupied from 1832 to 1848. Or unaccompanied visit of Balzac’s house in Passy, where the novelist wrote some of his great masterpieces. Free time for lunch on the quays, see the second-hand booksellers. Guided tour of the Latin Quarter, the students’ and cinema-lovers’ neighbourhood: Place St Michel, St-Séverin, Boulevard St Michel, Rue St André des Arts, the Sorbonne, Church of St Etienne du Mont, the Pantheon, the Cluny thermal baths. Evening meal at the MIJE refectory. Night in a youth hostel.

2/ PARISIAN LITERARY ATMOSPHERE

Breakfast. Guided tour of La Défense district and up to the roof of the Grande Arche. Picnic lunch at the Trocadero. Guided tour of the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, the largest architecture centre in the world. Evening meal in a cafeteria. Visit to the Palais de Tokyo, a stronghold of contemporary art, for a temporary exhibition followed by a meeting with a professional. Accommodation.
